Jordan Eberle scored twice in the final three minutes to force overtime, becoming Canada's all-time leading goal scorer, but Canada's World Junior gold medal streak ended at five with an extra-time loss to the Americans.

Taylor Hall had two goals and Jake Allen made 20 saves as Canada advanced to the gold medal game for the ninth year in a row.

Jordan Eberle, Nazem Kadri and Brandon Kozun all scored in the shootout as Canada locked up first place in Group A and a bye to the semis with a victory over the U.S. in another World Junior classic between the rivals.
